                                                              What is BlueMotion?

                                                     

Basically it is a series of tweaks and design changes to reduce the impact of Volkswagen cars on the environment.

With these changes to the cars, and a corrective change to driving style, one can save up to 10% on fuel costs.

Here are some of the changes to the vehicles

Aerodynamic

Small changes to the bodywork ensure a more aerodynamic vehicle. The front grill for instance has been changed to have less wind resistance, this goes for the wheel hubs as well. They have also narrowed the gaps between the cars panels, lowered the wheel arches and changed the spoilers. The less drag, the easier the car can move forward.
                                                                                 











Low Rolling Resistance Tyres


These tyres need less engine power to propel the car forward, therefore saving fuel and lowering emissions, while still offering performance, safety and driveability.







Stop-start Technology

This Technology is especially great for city driving and traffic jams, instead of idling away using (wasting) fuel, it works by switching the engine off when the vehicle is stopped and "seamlessly" re-starting it when the brake pedal is released (in automatics) or the clutch is engaged (in manuals). Thus saving fuel and reducing the environmental impact. And if you don't like that idea....you can deactivate it.
